The Navigation Panel Unit (NPU) and functional endoscopic surgery (FESS) Munich

40 years ago the introduction of endoscopic surgery was been viewed on as a revolutionary step in medicine. Now a new cutting edge technology has been implemented in our array of surgical instruments: The navigation panel unit (NPU) which permits by optical tracking on base of defined reference points transferring the actual position of surgical instruments into the computed tomography (CT) scan or cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) of the patient. In that way we have at any time in any position a virtual image of the actual surgical situation within the patients anatomy. Combining this together with the functional endoscopic surgery (FESS) means higher safety, decreased surgical length and thus higher comfort for the patient.
